I like how you pointed out that the way in which the story is told makes the concept easier for children to understand. The illustrations combined with the word choice used in the book makes the story more engaging for the younger audience it is aimed toward.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said it is also a resource to parents as well as teachers because it may help a parent be more open to this or allow them to maybe even explore themselves too.
ReplyDeleteI love how you discusses how this can become a resource for parents and teachers. This may help adults learn how to let their children explore themselves and the educate themselves on the topic.
ReplyDeleteHi Maryann! I enjoyed reading your reflection this week. I agree with your point that this book "presents a wide range of gender expressions, and fosters an environment of acceptance and understanding. I would like to add to this point. Not only does it foster acceptance in the form of gender expressions, but it exemplifies acceptance of people regardless of their gender expressions. The person reading the book kept bringing up how each child was doing really cool things despite their varying pronouns. I think that, to young kids, this not only fosters that idea that multiple gender expressions exist, but that nothing changes about the person even if their pronouns change. They are still the same awesome person that they were before, and they can still do some pretty cool things.
ReplyDeleteHi! it is very important to engage young learners to understand new concepts that they might not know. Everyone should feel and know that everyone is the same and others must respect one another despite who they identify as.
